Channel Islands 05 New Flyer

Back in 1999, Al Merrick designed the original Flyer, predecessor of the Channel Islands New Flyer. That initial design truly revolutionized high-performance surfing in small waves. With the evolution of the New Flyer, riders now had access to a shorter and wider package. This new plan-shape allows for the same volume in combination with a shorter rail line. Try it and you will notice the difference!

Channel Islands committed to the forgiving 2-stage rocker and added spiral vee starting in front of the fins to allow for rail-to-rail quickness. The signature “CI hip” on the rails creates an additional pivot point for riders to roll over one, and create tighter arcs.

Carbon Fiber
Tuflite Pro Carbon construction means the Channel Islands New Flyer comes with visible carbon fiber tail strips, making the back of the board much more resistant to backfoot pressure when riders force the board into hard turns. A Carbon stringer distributes power more evenly over the standing area, minimizes dings and adds breaking strength.

Injection Tech is a patented precision-engineered torsion control system designed to optimise surfboard performance.

injectiontechsm.gif

Injection Tech utilises the pressures and forces from the surfer and the wave itself, elastic energy. By strategically engineering the position of the reinforcing material on the bottom of the board, we create less resistance to torsional flex, allowing the board to flow through turns with a more drawn out turning arch.

The continuous length of reinforcing material is injected through the core of the board, from the bottom through to the deck, to increase drive, torque and pop in the tail region, much like the tail fin of a dolphin or tuna, generating speed and power.

The complete rail of an Injection Tech is kept free of any reinforcing elements to ensure a smooth even flex from nose to tail. This load and release flex works in unison with the rail to rail transition of the surfer generating speed and drive, different again to the Carbon Wrap technology
